Following a crankshaft project with DMG machines, “ROTH – komplette Automatisierungslösungen” was commissioned through the Firma Felsomat for a large-scale project for the production of gearbox and clutch housings in France, this time on the basis of Heller machines. The 10 systems in total carry out all necessary machining steps in the production one after the other (among other things surface machining, seal testing, measurement, washing, marking, stacking on pallets). The challenge was to intelligently interlink all systems in such a way that a possible standstill would not trigger a domino effect.
In the one-year project, a technical interlinking was successfully established. On the basis of the CAD software Xelec and with the Siemens Sinumerik 840D controller, the 10 systems with a total of 10 controllers and 12 control cabinets were interconnected. With storage cells generating buffers, the production was smoothed and smaller standstills dissolved.
