Each project has its own requirements, general conditions and budgets. We are pioneers in PC-based automation and have offered smart, tailor-made solutions on the basis of our modular program library for 15 years.Since the mid/end 1990s, in addition to NC and PLC technology, PC programming and with that PC technology increasingly found its way into control engineering. Through the expansion of PC technology, we can implement complex tasks. Since then, we have been successfully carrying out individual customer projects and today have unique experience and competence. Typical and elementary requirements are:

  • data interface to the controller
  • processing data on the PC along with its visualization
  • storing in databases
  • passing on to higher-level systems
  • Middleware PC Tools

This resulted in the RPCS (Roth Process Control System) modular system. We offer a standardized programming tool which can be adapted and expanded to customer requirements. It acquires operating and machine data for entire production lines and stand-alone machines.

Thanks to the breakdown into different components (HMI, WHM, BDE), RPCS targetedly meets your demands and at the same time grows investment-safe. For that reason, it can be integrated in existing systems without downtimes and already provides an added value with the basic version. Naturally, we also implement individual solutions for you.

Interface to Higher-level Systems and Databases

Our RPCS can be connected without a problem to other, higher-level systems (for example, SAP). Entirely new PC solutions can be planned and developed, whereby we develop and configure as many data interfaces as required between controller and PC and so implement the data transfer between them. For this, we create an individual functional specification and will also take over the control of the data preparation. Data processing in the PC takes place according to the customer requirements. We use SQL and Oracle as the database system.

Approach

We also assure you a partnership-based support by ROTH when introducing PC-based automation. In order to ensure a smooth operation, best-possible adjustment and safe functioning of our products and systems, we pursue the following typical procedure when implementing projects:
preliminary discussions with the custormer, consultation

  • workshop
  • creation of functional specification
  • decision for a standard solution or an individual solution
  • realization and implementation in close consultation with customer, project management
  • installation and test at the customer (customer can do some of the work himself: for example, cabling or providing hardware components)
  • start-up and customer training
  • after-sales service, maintentance, updates, etc.

HMI PC-Machine Communication

‘The RPCS HMI (Roth Process Control System Human Machine Interface) is a  powerful visualization component which can be used for all RPCS products as well as for customer-specific solutions. It has the following modules:

  • menu tree, branching an visialization for up to 3 levels
  • language management
  • user management
  • connection to controller and database

You can decide how this is to be used:

  • HMI is created entirely by the Roth specialist based on customer specifications
  • HMI is created together with the customer and the customer can then carry out modifications and adjustments himself
  • HMI is purchased from Roth by the customer as a configuration tool and, with that, completely independently developed

WHM Warehouse Management

Warehouse Management (RPCS WHM) is the warehouse management component of RPCS  based on PC and database for the areas of warehousing and logistics. A WHM is in demand everywhere where data must be stored, managed or used to control. It is used in fully automated as well as in traditional, manually controlled high-bay warehouses and storage systems. The WHM takes over, for example, tasks such as the control of buffer or sorting storage and the supply of processing or assembly lines.

BDE Production Data Acquisition

The production data acquisition of our system (RPCS BDE) serves the secure acquisition of all data relevant for operation and production and is thus relevant in particular for the areas of quality assurance, parts tracking and system optimization. RPCS offers a wide range of functions and performance, from overviews up to detailed analyses. This is possible by collecting and saving process and workpiece data, calculating system availability (OEE figures) and evaluating system/machine errors.
